Pilates is a great complementary discipline for the Equestrian. A rider's position and movement on the horse impacts both how the horse moves, and also the riders ability to absorb shock and move freely. Using a specialist knowledge of anatomy and movement and how you use your body whilst riding, plus how the horse influences you is required to help you make the necessary changes.
The Franklin Method combines anatomical embodiment and imagery to improve awareness, train the mind-body connection, and produce efficient movement. With practice of the Franklin Method, equestrians become more aware of not only their own movement, but also the movement of their horse. Consequently, the connection between horse and rider becomes more clear and precise.
An initial assessment will help Becki to identify your movement patterns and select appropriate exercises for future 121 sessions. You will then move to the reformer (a moving carriage which gives a challenge to your stability and mobility) which will be of particular benefit to build the physical skills for fluid movements, and posture which will improve your seat and build a deeper partnership with your horse.
Rider specific workshops explore imbalances and restrictions within your body and uses specific Pilates exercises and Franklin Balls to bring symmetry, balance, posture and stability to your riding.
